Prosecutors in her appeal said that Saudi-based laws would like a harsher sentence, thereby leading to a sharp increase in sentence to 34 years, dated August 8th. She reposted tweets from the inquiring a Saudi activist who called for the release of political prisoners in the kingdom. Shehab was first sentenced to six years in prison because she used social media to suppress public order and destabilize the state’s security and stability. She was arrested in January 2021 after coming home from the United Kingdom for a vacation to Saudi Arabia.
